Following four seasons with the Indiana Pacers, Lance Stephenson signed a three-year $27 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets ahead of the 2014-15 season. Stephenson served as primarily a sixth man, making 61 appearances, 25 of which were starts. In 25.8 minutes per game, Stephenson averaged 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks.

After his first season in Charlotte, Stephenson was traded for veteran center Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes, who was traded before ever suiting up for the Hornets. Stephenson would go on to play a total of 10 NBA seasons, averaging 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.6 steals. His last NBA season came during the 2021-22 campaign, splitting time between the Atlanta Hawks and the aforementioned
