After being drafted No. 3 overall by the Charlotte Hornets during the 2020 NBA Draft, LaMelo Ball spent six seasons with the franchise before an offseason trade sent him to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ball sported two different numbers during his time with the team, wearing No. 2 for his first two seasons and No. 1 for the next four. In four seasons wearing the No. 1, Ball averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 41% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc.
At the time of the trade, Ball was sixth all-time on the Hornets' scoring list and was second in 3-pointers made, trailing only Kemba Walker. Ball has also recorded the most triple-doubles in franchise history.
