Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Aday Mara registered a double-double for Spain on Monday in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup European qualifying tournament.
Mara produced 15 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, one assist and one blocked shot in a 108-106 loss against Greece at the Telekom Center in Athens. He finished by shooting 5-for-7 from the field and was a plus-six on the court in 25 minutes of action.
The 7-footer debuted with Spain's senior team on Friday, recording 12 points, six rebounds, four blocked shots and two assists in a 95-89 loss to Portugal. He went 3-for-8 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line in 19 minutes off the bench.
Spain, among 32 countries vying for Europe's 12 berths in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup,
fell to second in Group I after dropping both of its games in this qualifying window. The top three teams in each group advance from the qualifying tournament, which wraps up in March.

Before debuting with Spain this month, Mara previously helped the junior team win silver at the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup and the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship. He also played in the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket.
Mara was the 12th overall pick after helping Michigan to its second national championship last season. He was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.4 assists while shooting 66.8% from the field.
The 21-year-old debuted with the Thunder in summer league, averaging 9.2 points, seven rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 blocks while shooting 56.3% from the field in five games. He reached 10 or more points four times, including a 14-point performance on July 14.
Mara was linked to the Thunder throughout the predraft process as a player who can make an impact off the bench and provide additional depth in the frontcourt. He was instrumental in Michigan's title run and will bring additional championship experience to OKC.
