During the 1991 NBA season, the Charlotte Hornets claimed Greg Grant off waivers from the New York Knicks, a former No. 52 overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft. Grant was the first player in franchise history to wear the No. 5; however, his tenure was rather forgettable. In 17 appearances with Charlotte, Grant averaged 0.1 points, 1.4 assists, 0.3 rebounds and 0.6 steals in 4.4 minutes per game.
Following his time with the Hornets, the former Trenton State University product would play three more NBA seasons between Philadelphia, Denver and Washington, ending his career with six years and 274 games of NBA experience.
