Houston Rockets forward Amen Thompson continues to prepare for the 2026-27 NBA season, working in the Rockets facility after training with other NBA players earlier in the summer. In a recent photo posted to social media, Thompson was working with shooting coach Chip Engelland.

As has been the discussion with Thompson all summer, the three-year forward could take an even further jump this fall if able to improve on his shooting. Thompson averaged a career-high 18.3 points a season ago while finishing second in the league in dunks. However, his 3-point percentage of 21.6% was a glaring weakness. Engelland, who has been credited with helping develop the jump shots of many former San Antonio Spurs players like Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard and Dejounte

Murray, could be the instructor Thompson needs.

Once again, if Thompson is able to unlock his jump shot next season, he'll easily become one of the most feared players in the Western Conference. If not, he'll still be one of the league's most athletic and versatile defenders, a needed skill in today's NBA.
