Few storylines surrounding the Houston Rockets have made more news than the development of Amen Thompson's jump shot. A three-year pro to this point, Thompson has put fans in awe when it comes to his speed, instincts and unreal athleticism. Last year, the former No. 4 overall pick enjoyed a career-best campaign, averaging 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks.
Although he averaged a career-high in points per game last season, Rockets supporters are eager to see an improvement in his 3-point shooting, having shot 21.6% from beyond the arc last year and 21.9% for his career. In the 3-point-heavy style of the modern NBA, Thompson could find another gear if his 3-point percentage were to hover around league average. Thompson addressed
the remarks made about his shooting struggles earlier this week, saying, "They got to talk about something. I feel like I'm really good at a lot of things. I'm really impactful on the court. It's fun to do that, I guess—pick on that one thing. But I work on it every day. I know I'm going to be a good shooter. So, it doesn't matter to me."
While Rockets supporters still view Thompson as an incredible talent, they also know his potential would be through the roof if he were able to develop a steady jump shot into his repertoire.
