During training camp, the Houston Rockets made a move to create more roster flexibility, opening up a two-way contract slot. They did so by waiving Rafael Castro, a 6'11" undrafted big man who they signed back in August.
Following the move, head coach Ime Udoka discussed the transaction, expressing confidence in the frontcourt depth that Houston possesses. "Our abundance of bigs in camp, having three (centers), and then Oscar (Tshiebwe) is here, playing really well." With the aforementioned Tshiebwe, Clint Capela, Steven Adams and Alperen Sengun available at center, Udoka and the Rockets could opt to sign a wing or guard with their final roster spot.
That said, they'll have plenty of time to make a decision, as Udoka indicated that the team is evaluating
four to five candidates. Houston will begin their preseason Oct. 9 against the Dallas Mavericks.
