Houston Rockets legend and NBA Hall of Famer Ralph Sampson recently sat down for an interview, discussing various topics, including the current state of the Rockets with sports reporter Kyle Odegard.
The former Rookie of the Year Award winner first discussed his admiration for Kevin Durant, saying, "I love him to death. He can play in today's game for a whole lot more years as long as he stays healthy. He's a Hall of Fame player. I love the way he plays, and I love to go see him play. He can play for as long as he wants."
Sampson also weighed in on Houston's chances to contend, saying, "We'll see if they get healthy. If they do, I think they can compete, but you've got to be healthy."
A five-year center for Houston, Sampson had his best seasons
with the franchise, averaging 19.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 blocks and one steal, at a staggering 7'4" frame. During the 1987-88 season, Sampson was traded to the Warriors and would finish his career after nine seasons following stints with Golden State, Sacramento and Washington.
