What is the story about?

The Arizona Cardinals opened their practice week Wednesday for Sunday’s game at home against the Detroit Lions and released their first injury report of Week 5.

Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love was limited because of an issue with his ankle, which is not the one that was injured (high-ankle sprain) in the Aug. 13 preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Love has called it being managed, while head coach Mike LaFleur said it is “maintenance.”

On Tuesday, starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. was placed on injured reserve because of a torn biceps and will miss the remainder of the season.

The full details of the Cardinals' Wednesday injury report are below. Starters are noted with an asterisk.

Cardinals Wednesday injury report

Did not participate

*RG Isaiah Adams (ankle)
*S Budda Baker (not injury related/rest)
LB Jordan Burch (not injury related/personal)
*LG Isaac Seumalo (not injury related/rest)
*OLB Josh Sweat (not injury related/rest/groin)
*S Andrew Wingard (knee)

LaFleur announced Wednesday

that Adams won’t likely play against the Lions. He said it’s possible Wingard could be questionable. It seems likely he will be held out this week to ensure the injury isn’t aggravated.

Sweat still has a groin issue with his rest day that was added to last week’s report on Friday.

Limited participation

*RB Jeremiyah Love (ankle)
S Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (back)

Over the last two weeks, Taylor-Demerson missed five of six practices, so starting this week as limited likely means he’s making progress.
