The Arizona Cardinals' Week 4 opponent has a new quarterback. The New York Giants acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
McCarthy, drafted 10th overall in the 2024 NFL draft, was beaten out by former Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray for the starting job, and veteran Carson Wentz was named their backup.
The Giants lost starter Jaxson Dart for at least the rest of the regular season to a knee injury, and Jameis Winston started in Week 3, a 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans.
McCarthy went 6-4 in 10 starts last season for the Vikings. He completed 57.6% of his passes for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 181 yards and four scores.
As of Tuesday
morning, we figure that the Giants will roll with Winston as their starter this week against the Cardinals, but that could change. The Cardinals have never faced McCarthy.
