The Arizona Cardinals lost to the Dallas Cowboys 34-13 on Saturday night in the preseason. They had some players get hurt during the game. One injury happened before the game.
Head coach Mike LaFleur detailed the injuries in his postgame press conference.
Who got hurt?
- Punter Blake Gillikin injured his groin pregame. He didn't punt in the game but did hold for field goals and extra points. He will have an MRI done.
- Safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson suffered a rib injury. LaFleur was unable to say how serious it was.
- Receiver Xavier Weaver injured his hamstring after playing only two offensive snaps.
- Cornerback Kei'Trel Clark injured his hip in coverage on a pass attempt to the end zone in the second half.
- S Wydett Williams and CB Kalen King both were evaluated for concussions.
The injuries to Gillikin and Taylor-Demerson are the ones to watch, as both will make the roster. With one preseason game remaining, we will probably see the Cardinals sign a punter to use in practice and play in the preseason finale on Friday.
Taylor-Demerson's injury could impact roster decisions, as he is one of the four safeties who are locks for the roster.
The other guys are on the roster bubble, but if they are still injured when rosters must be cut down to 53 players next Sunday,
they will either be placed on injured reserve or could be waived with an injury designation.
Final cuts are next Sunday.
