The Arizona Cardinals have been absolutely owned by the Los Angeles Rams since Sean McVay became the head coach. Since 2017, the Rams are 16-3 against the Cardinals — 15-3 in 18 regular-season games and 1-0 in the postseason.
It has been pretty ugly.
The Cardinals managed one regular-season win in 2021, 2022 and 2024. Kyler Murray quarterbacked two of the wins, and Colt McCoy was the starter for the one in 2022.
Current Cardinals starter Jacoby Brissett has never beaten the Rams. He went 0-2 in two starts last season, and the Cardinals lost by a combined score of 82-37.
The Rams have won three straight games over the Cardinals and four of the last five meetings. The Cardinals have not beaten the Rams on the road since 2022.
In fact, five of the last
six wins by the Rams over the Cardinals have been by two or more scores.
Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur is coaching against the Rams for the first time as more than a position coach. He was on McVay's staff the last three years, and when he was the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets, they did not play the Rams.
We will see if LaFleur and Brissett can change the Cardinals' fortunes against the Rams on Sunday. The game at SoFi Stadium begins at 4:05 p.m. ET (1:05 p.m. Arizona time).
