It has been a rough year for Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love. He suffered his third ankle injury of the year on Sunday.
In the preseason, it was a high ankle sprain for his right ankle. He missed most of the preseason but was ready to play in Week 1. He hurt his left ankle in Week 2, played through it for three games and then missed two.
On Sunday, in his return after a two-game absence, he left again with an ankle injury. His right foot got twisted outward laterally when he was tackled in the second quarter. He slammed his helmet down in frustration after the injury.
On Monday, head coach Mike LaFleur gave a small update, but didn't have much more.
The one thing we know is that it isn't a reaggravation of a previous injury.
"This is new, so this is not the left ankle or the right," he said. "It’s a new portion of the ankle. I’ll keep it at that. I’m going to know a little bit more tomorrow."
Now, what he meant is that it wasn't related to either previous injury. It was a different part of his right ankle.
He said he hadn't spoken with Love yet, so he wasn't ready to give the public any more update until Wednesday.
He rushed nine times for 23 yards against the Cowboys and, on the season, he has 268 rushing yards and a touchdown, averaging 3.5 yards per attempt.
