The Arizona Cardinals will get back their top draft pick in Week 8. Head coach Mike LaFleur announced before the team's final practice of the week that Jeremiyah Love would play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Love missed the last two games with a lingering ankle injury.
Love isn't necessarily 100% healthy, but LaFleur noted that, at this point in the season, nobody is, but he did say that his star young running back is "feeling as good as he can feel."
Perhaps he isn't 100%, but he is healthy enough to have practiced as a full participant in Friday's practice and to have no game status for the upcoming game against the Cowboys. He is "off the injury report," as people say.
Love did not practice at all in Week 6 and Week 7. He was a limited
participant on Wednesday and Thursday this week before being a full participant on Friday.
Love's ankle injury is his second since joining the Cardinals. He suffered a high ankle sprain in the preseason and was back by Week 1. This injury is different.
Love said this ankle injury came up in Week 2 and got worse. The two weeks off were good. "Two weeks for anybody will get people feeling how they want to feel," he said.
Perhaps this means the dynamic play fans have been waiting for will finally show up. The ankle injury clearly impacted his running. "I ain't myself when I got my ankles (injured)," he said. "I like to come to a complete stop, so I use my ankles a lot. So if your ankles aren't right, you're not gonna be able to do that. So it impacted me quite a bit."
Love has averaged 3.7 yards per rushing attempt this season. He leads the Cardinals with 245 yards and a touchdown.
