What is the story about?

The Arizona Cardinals have roster decisions to make today, as NFL teams must cut their rosters down to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. Arizona time). One deciding factor into how many players to keep at each position are injuries.

The Cardinals have four player injuries that will impact the roster, as they are all to players who ideally would make the roster. Will any land on injured reserve? The Cardinals can place up to two on IR without first being on the 53-man roster.

QB Carson Beck

Beck has been out with a rib injury since right before the Cardinals' second preseason game. If he goes on injured reserve, he would have to miss at least two weeks of practice and at least four games. But starting him there would free a roster spot for someone else.

RB James Conner

Conner is

recovering from a severe ankle injury that ended his season after only three games. He passed his physical to start training camp and did not land on the PUP list. But he has not yet done any 11-on-11 work. It is uncertain whether he will be ready to play in Week 1. If he isn't, and with potential uncertainty with Jeremiyah Love's Week 1 availability, they might need four or five running backs on the roster.

OL Isaiah Adams

Adams has a knee injury he suffered recently. If there is a chance that he won't be available in Week 1, that means Jon Gaines would start. The Cardinals would need a guard/center on the bench. And if he has to go on IR, it means someone else makes the roster who otherwise would not have.

S Dadrion Taylor-Demerson

Taylor-Demerson injured his ribs against the Dallas Cowboys. If he is going to be out multiple weeks, it means they might want to have five safeties on the roster rather than just four with him, Budda Baker, Andrew Wingard and Kitan Crawford.
