The Arizona Cardinals will face the New York Giants this week on Sunday. The reigning NFC Defensive Player of the Month is on the Giants.
On Thursday, the NFL announced conference players and rookies of the month for September and Giants safety Jevon Holland was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month.
In his second season with the Giants, Holland has 12 tackles, three interceptions, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
He is tied for the league lead in interceptions and is the only player this season with an interception in each of his team’s three games. Holland’s four takeaways are the most by an NFL player in their team’s first three games of a season since Marcus Peters had four in 2016 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He is just the second player since 2000 with at least three interceptions and two forced fumbles in his team’s first three games of a season. Kyle Fuller with the Chicago Bears did it in 2014.
He has played every snap of the season on defense for the Giants through three games.
Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett has only turned the ball over once in three games. We will see if that can continue with Holland patrolling the back end of New York's defense.
The Cardinals and Giants kick off at MetLife Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. Arizona time).
