Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love appears ready to go in Week 1. The Cardinals announced their Saturday roster moves, and their one move was to elevate cornerback Kalen King from the practice squad.
With only three running backs on the active roster — Love, Tyler Allgeier and Bam Knight — if there were any real doubt about Love's availability for the game, the Cardinals would have elevated running back Evan Hull.
Love is officially listed as questionable to play on Sunday on the Cardinals' final injury report. He has been recovering from a high ankle sprain he suffered on Aug. 13 in the team's second preseason game.
Head coach Mike LaFleur expressed optimism all week that Love would be able to play, and we wrote of the report that Love was
expected to be able to go.
The question is how much he will be used. Allgeier is listed as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart, but LaFleur said we shouldn't read too much into that. In Love's only preseason action, he played 24 first-half snaps and had 14 touches — 11 rushing attempts and three receptions.
We will see what his usage will be and whether he or Allgeier is on the field first.
The Cardinals and Chargers kick off Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET (1:25 p.m. Arizona time) at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
