The Los Angeles Rams made a move at kicker ahead of their Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals. According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, they have released kicker Harrison Mevis and are signing kicker Blake Grupe off the New York Jets' practice squad.
Mevis missed a field goal and had one blocked in the Rams' 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. He was 5-for-9 on field goals for the Rams this season and making 12-of-13 last season.
Grupe has been in the league since 2023. He kicked two-plus seasons for the New Orleans Saints and also played for the Indianapolis Colts to finish last season. After he was released by the Colts following the preseason, Grupe was claimed by the Jets, who later released him at the end of September and signed
him to the practice squad.
In two games last season, Mevis was 4-for-4 on field goals and 10-for-10 on extra points in two games against the Cardinals.
Grupe has faced the Cardinals once, in Week 1 for the Saints last season. Grupe was 2-for-3 on field goals and made his only PAT in a loss.
