The Arizona Cardinals play a familiar opponent this week, as they take on the San Francisco 49ers. Being in the NFC West together, they play each other twice a year.
In this matchup, between the teams, there are many familiar faces. Several players played for the other team, although only one will play in the game.
Who are the player connections between the Cardinals and 49ers?
Cardinals WR Kendrick Bourne
Bourne is the only player on the active roster of either team who used to play for the other. Bourne, who signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals this past offseason, had two stints with the 49ers.
He played for them from 2017-2020 after making it as an undrafted rookie. He returned to the Niners last season after four years with the New England Patriots.
49ers WR Christian Kirk
Kirk is on
injured reserve for the 49ers currently, signing with them this past offseason. He was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round in 2018 and played four years for them.
49ers OL Austen Pleasants
Pleasants is also on injured reserve. This is his third season with the 49ers. He spent part of the 2024 season on the Cardinals' practice squad.
49ers OL Brett Toth
Toth is also on injured reserve. He spent time on the Cardinals' roster in 2019 and 2020 but never appeared in a game.
