The Arizona Cardinals must deal with an injury to one of their starting offensive lineman this weekend in their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach Mike LaFleur announced that starting right guard Isaiah Adams would be out. He was ruled out officially on the final injury report of the week.
Adams has been out since the middle of the preseason with a knee injury.
With Adams out, it means that Jon Gaines will get the start at right guard. LaFleur is confident that Gaines will do fine.
"He's played a lot of football," he said Friday. "I think Gaines is a really good football player and he's got the look in his eye that it's not going to be too big for him."
Gaines started the final five games of last season at left guard, so it
isn't new to him to be in the starting lineup.
How he fares against the Chargers' interior defensive linemen like Teair Tart and Dalvin Tomlinson will be something to watch.
