The Arizona Cardinals have not announced any of their cuts to get down to 53 players, but they have begun to get reported. The first of the reported cuts is offensive lineman Christian Jones, according to Mike Garafolo.
Jones was drafted in the fifth round in 2024 out of Texas and spent part of both his NFL seasons on injured reserve. In two seasons, he appeared in four games, starting in the 2024 regular-season finale. He played 74 offensive snaps in 2024, none last season, and he logged 14 total snaps on special teams over two seasons.
As he is not a vested veteran, he will have to clear waivers.
Could he return as a member of the practice squad? It seems unlikely, as he appeared to be the last tackle on the depth chart. The Cardinals' starting
tackles are Paris Johnson and Elijah Wilkinson. Josh Fryar and rookie Jayden Williams are likely to make the roster, leaving Jones and Demontrey Jacobs as the odd men out.
If he clears waivers, he may sign with a practice squad somewhere.
