The Arizona Cardinals will take on the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday in Week 1, and they have made roster moves to prepare for the game. On Saturday, they announced a single roster move. '
They elevated cornerback Kalen King from the practice squad.
The move is to give the Cardinals cornerback depth, as Garrett Williams was ruled out of the season opener, as he continues to recover from the Achilles tear he suffered in December.
The Cardinals will have five available cornerbacks — Will Johnson, Max Melton, Denzel Burke, Kei'Trel Clark and King.
King practiced in the slot all offseason and played their in the preseason. While Williams was unavailable, he was the No. 2 slot corner behind Sean Murphy-Bunting, who was released when the Cardinals trimmed
their roster to 53 players.
He will likely be the team's backup slot corner on Sunday and play on special teams. Burke is expected to play in the slot with Johnson and Melton playing outside.
With no other practice squad elevations, it suggests that rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, questionable to play with an ankle injury, is good to go and will be able to suit and play.
The Chargers made no roster moves on Saturday.
The two teams kick off from SoFi Stadium on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET (1:25 p.m. Arizona time).
