The Arizona Cardinals added two players from their roster to injured reserve. Tackle Paris Johnson, who suffered a season-ending biceps injury, officially was moved from the active roster to injured reserve. While he could technically be eligible to return after at least four games, he will miss the rest of the season.
The Cardinals also placed tight end Hunter Long on injured reserve. He suffered a knee injury in the Cardinals' 36-24 loss to the New York Giants. His injury went under the radar because the Cardinals had three starters go down on Sunday. Johnson is out for the season, safety Andrew Wingard has a bone bruise in his knee, which will keep him out a bit, and right guard Isaiah Adams will miss at least one game with an ankle injury.
Long must miss at least four games on IR. The earliest he would be eligible to return is after the Cardinals play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. They play the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.
With two roster vacancies, the Cardinals made two additions. They signed tight end Teagan Quitoriano from the practice squad to the active roster to replace Long, and they signed tackle Jedrick Wills to the active roster from the Buffalo Bills' practice squad.
Quitoriano was signed as a free agent this offseason, previously playing for the Atlanta Falcons. He didn't make the active roster out of training camp and the preseason, but he is familiar with the role Long had. He has been a blocking tight end who plays on special teams. Last season, Quitoriano played 239 snaps on special teams for the Falcons. Long played 57 snaps on special teams in four games, along with 91 on offense.
Wills is a former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, drafted 10th overall in 2020 out of Alabama. Knee injuries have limited him to only 12 games over the last three seasons. He didn't play last season.
Wills has started 57 games in the NFL at left tackle.
Rookie Jayden Williams is expected to replace Johnson as the Cardinals' starting left tackle, but Wills gives them experienced depth if Williams isn't goood enough.
