The Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders will play Thursday in a preseason contest in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kickoff from Allegiant Stadium is at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Arizona time). Both teams will play all their players.
It is possible we see a rematch at quarterback of the national championship game in the College Football Playoff last year. It was Fernando Mendoza leading Indiana to a title over Miami and quarterback Carson Beck.
Mendoza was drafted first overall by the Raiders. Beck was drafted in the third round by the Cardinals.
Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said that Mendoza would "get plenty of reps" against the Cardinals. He is their No. 2 quarterback behind Kirk Cousins.
Beck played well in the Hall of Fame Game, but he is QB3 for the Cardinals
behind Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew.
Brissett is expected to play only a series or two, so it isn't certain at what point Beck will enter the game. But it is possible that both Beck and Mendoza will be running their offenses at the same point in the game.
Both will play. The question is whether their snaps will overlap in the game, creating the Mendoza vs. Beck matchup for at least a couple of drives.
The Cardinals and Raiders will meet in the regular season in December. it is possible we will at least get a full national championship meeting then.
