The Arizona Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday in Week 1, but what happened in Wednesday night game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots is something Cardinals fans will want to pay attention to. The Seahawks won their season opener on Wednesday night, beating the New England Patriots 13-10 in a rematch of Super Bowl LX, but starting quarterback San Darnold exited the game after their first possession of the game with a hip injury.
He did not return, and there was fear that he had suffered a serious injury. He had X-rays and a CAT scan of his hip, and doctors ruled out a fracture, so the worst-case scenario was avoided, but it means that Darnold might not be able to play in Week 2.
The Cardinals play the Seahawks
at State Farm Stadium in their home opener in Week 2.
Does this give the Cardinals potentially a better chance of winning? Yes, but then again, backup quarterback Drew Lock rallied the Seahawks from a 10-0 deficit to win 13-10. He completed 16-of-22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown.
Lock did that against what is expected to be one of the best defenses in the league. The Cardinals are expected to struggle defensively.
The Seahawks will be off for the rest of the week, but we will watch the Seahawks' Week 2 injury report for Darnold's status for the game against the Cardinals.
