The Arizona Cardinals made things official with cornerback Will Johnson. He suffered a neck injury on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks in their 31-7 loss, and he might miss the rest of the season.
They placed him on injured reserve officially on Wednesday. The prognosis remains the same.
"We’re bracing for the worst right there," head coach Mike LaFleur said on Wednesday. "I don’t know if that’s exactly the wording of it, but we’re not prepared to have him back if that is.”
Replacing him on the roster is cornerback Star Thomas V, who was signed from the practice squad.
Thomas hasn't played since 2024, missing the 2025 season with a torn ACL. He started 15 games in 2024.
What will help is if Garrett Williams can be ready to make his 2026 debut.
Max Melton has a toe injury and did not practice Wednesday. Without him, the Cardinals have Denzel Burke, Williams, Thomas, Kei'Trel Clark and Kalen King on the roster. `
