The Arizona Cardinals had one injury of note in their Week 1 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Safety Kitan Crawford suffered an ankle injury on the play when Simi Fehoko blocked a punt.
He is going to miss some time.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Crawford is heading to injured reserve with a mid ankle sprain, and he will return later this season. The Cardinals announced the roster move as well. He must miss at least the next four games. At minimum, he will miss the Cardinals' games against the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants and Detroit Lions. The earliest he could return is in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams.
This is another hit to the Cardinals' depth at safety. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson is recovering
from a rib injury and missed Week 1. If he can return this week, the Cardinals will be fine, as Taylor-Demerson and rookie Wydett Williams will be the safety depth. If he isn't able to play this week, we will see someone signed or elevated from the practice squad.
Crawford played seven snaps on defense and 14 on special teams before being carted off the field. He had one tackle on defense and two combined tackles on special teams.
