The Arizona Cardinals and the rest of the NFL have until 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. Arizona time) to get their rosters down to 53 players. Some cuts are beginning to be reported before teams make their official roster move announcements.
One of the several reported cuts for the Cardinals is quarterback Kedon Slovis, according to Mike Garafolo.
Slovis was not expected to make the team, as they brought back Jacoby Brissett, signed Gardner Minshew and drafted Carson Beck. Now, if Beck ends up starting the season on injured reserve, as he is dealing with a rib injury, Slovis might return on the practice squad.
He was signed to the practice squad last year and then signed to the active roster after Kyler Murray was placed on injured reserve. He appeared in two
games and completed 1-of-2 passes for minus-2 yards.
He will go through waivers, so another team could potentially claim him, giving him a spot on a team's 53-man roster.
He played pretty well in the preseason. He appeared in all four games, completing 39-of-61 passes for 434 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, both of which happened in the Cardinals' preseason finale on Friday. He also rushed for 20 yards.
Slovis is a local kid who played high school ball at Desert Mountain High School before going on to play collegiately for USC, Pitt and BYU.
