The Arizona Cardinals had three starters go down with injuries on Sunday in their 36-24 loss to the New York Giants. One was bad news, as left tackle Paris Johnson tore his biceps and will miss the rest of the season. Another had decent news.
Safety Andrew Wingard, who suffered a knee injury in the first quarter and did not return, has just a bone bruise.
According to Jeremy Fowler and Ian Rapoport, Wingard did not have any ligament damage. It is "relatively good news," although the timeline for his return is unknown.
Rookie Wydett Williams had to finish the game in place of Wingard. Williams and Budda Baker were the Cardinals' only healthy safeties finishing the game. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson was out with a back injury.
We will see if Wingard will stay
on the roster and work through the injury, or if he will land on injured reserve.
In a somewhat similar injury, San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk suffered a bone bruise in his knee and will miss two or three weeks.
If that is more or less what Wingard suffered, he can perhaps be back as early as Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.
We will know more as the rweek progresses.
