The Arizona Cardinals are 1-3 to start the season after four games. They have lost three games in a row following a 36-24 loss to the New York Giants. Their loss didn't change their ranking in the latest NFL power rankings from NFL.com's Nick Shook, though.
They remained at No. 26 overall.
I thought I could count on Arizona’s offense to produce at a competitive rate on a weekly basis. The unit did so in two of its first three games and continued to do so on the first two drives against the Giants. Unfortunately, the rut the Cardinals entered (and their failure to find the end zone late) has shaken my confidence in this team. For once, the defense did its part to give Arizona a chance -- at least early -- and the offense failed to capitalize. Perhaps
this is what I should have expected from the Cardinals all along.
The defense perhaps did the job early in the game, but it has not done the job since Week 1. They have allowed over 30 points in three straight games and, if we go back to their nine-game losing streak to end the 2025 season, they have allowed over 30 points in nine of their last 13. They are 1-12 in that time.
It is still Nick Rallis at defensive coordinator. The results haven't changed. How much longer will they roll with him leading the way?
There were two good signs from the defense that perhaps things could improve. They had two takeaways and sacked Jameis Winston four times.
However, nobody on the roster has more than 1.5 sacks, and they haven't proven they can stop anyone when it counts yet this season.
Their only win looks less and less impressive as the LA Chargers are now 0-4 on the season and look lost offensively.
Meanwhile, coming up in Week 5 are the Detroit Lions, who have scored 31 points three times and 26 last week in a loss. They rank 16th in Week 5 power rankings.
How does the NFC West look like in Week 5 power rankings?
The San Francisco 49ers sit atop the rankings at No. 1. They are 4-0 and lead the NFC West.
The Seattle Seahawks, who are 3-1, are No. 3, trailing only the 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Los Angeles Rams are 13th, standing pat after a comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cardinals, as previously mentioned, are 26th and didn't move after Week 4.
