Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love currently has a high ankle sprain and the hope is that he can be ready to go when the team takes the field in Week 1 two weeks from now. There is some good news for Cardinals fans.
According to Arizona Sports 98.7 FM's John Gambadoro, Love is "trending in the right direction." He "needs to keep progressing," but things are "looking positive."
Love suffered an ankle sprain in the Cardinals' preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders after 11 carries and three receptions.
His ankle injury, combined with James Conner's slow recovery from his ankle injury from last season, has made the otherwise deep running back room a little uncertain.
Drafted third overall, there are high expectations for Love. While
they signed Tyler Allgeier this offseason, Love is expected to be the Cardinals' showcased running back.
It will be important for him to be fully healthy when he comes back. Ankle injuries can be tricky, and since he got hurt in the only game he played in the preseason, the last thing we want to see is him missing time his rookie season.
We will know a little more the week leading up to the season opener, as the Cardinals will release injury reports Wednesday through Friday.
