The NFC West was supposed to be one of the best divisions in the NFL in 2026. While perhaps that still is the case, the teams' records don't suggest it.
After Week 8, only one team, the San Francisco 49ers, is above .500. They lead the division, and the Arizona Cardinals sit in last place. However, the Cardinals aren't far off the teams in the middle.
Here are the latest standings in the NFC West:
- San Francisco 49ers, 6-1 (3-0 division)
- Seattle Seahawks, 4-4 (1-1 division)
- Los Angeles Rams, 4-4 (0-2 division)
- Arizona Cardinals, 3-5 (1-2 division)
The Seahawks and Rams have not played yet this season. Seattle's better division record puts them ahead of the Rams.
Week 8 in the NFC West
The 49ers didn't play. They were on their bye after they suffered their first loss of the season in Week 7.
The Seahawks played Monday night, losing to the Chicago Bears 34-17. They were held to 252 total yards and went 1-for-11 on third
down. They were playing without left tackle Charles Cross and defensive tackle Leonard Williams.
The Rams only had 281 yards of offense, but they handled the winless LA Chargers 24-9. They picked off Justin Herbert twice. Matthew Stafford threw a touchdown pass and was intercepted once. Kyren Williams and Blake Corum combined for 129 rushing yards.
The Cardinals trailed the Dallas Cowboys by 14 points and benched starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett, but rallied behind three touchdown passes by Gardner Minshew to win 33-30 in overtime.
Week 9 games in the NFC West
The 49ers will be at home after the bye and face the 4-4 Las Vegas Raiders.
The Rams are on the road against the 2-4-1 Washington Commanders.
The Cardinals and Seahawks clash for the second time this season, this time in Seattle.
