The Arizona Cardinals were off on Tuesday, but it was tryout day. According to the NFL transaction wire, they had four players in for a tryout — all linebackers.
They had these players come in:
- Kobe King
- Marte Mapu
- Chris Paul
- Jacob Roberts
All would be inside linebackers in the Cardinals' defense, so the Cardinals might be dealing with an injury to their depth, like rookie Karson Sharar on the active roster or Eugene Asante on the practice squad.
What do we know about these four players?
King is a 6-1, 250-pound off-ball linebacker who was drafted in the sixth round last year by the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Vikings and New York Jets as a rookie, logging a total of 219 snaps on special teams and three on defense.
He was placed on injured reserve in June and waived with an injury settlement
in August.
Mapu played the last three seasons for the New England Patriots after they drafted him in 2023 in the third round. He is 6-3 and 230 pounds. He has played 810 snaps on defense and 585 on special teams over three seasons, logging 255 on special teams in 2025 for the Pats. He had 25 total tackles, five pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.
Paul was drafted last year in the fifth round by the LA Rams and, after not making the roster, signed with the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks and spent the season there.
Roberts is a 6-1, 233-pound linebacker who went undrafted in 2025 and signed with the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason.
