The Arizona Cardinals open the season this Sunday on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers made some changes in the offseason. They had coaching changes, had players leave and come in free agency, and they added players in the draft.
Here is what you should know about this year's Chargers.
Chargers coaching changes
Jim Harbaugh remains head coach, but he has two new coordinators. Greg Roman is no longer the offensive coordinator. Now it is Mike McDaniel, the former head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Former defensive coordinator Jesse Minter was hired to be the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Chris O'Leary replaces him.
Chargers free agency changes
Center Bradley Bozeman retired and guard Mekhi Becton was released. Other key losses were running back Najee Harris, guard Zion Johnson
and receiver Keenan Allen.
They added former Cardinals defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. They signed center Tyler Biadasz, but he was lost for the season to a knee injury. They also added guard Cole Strange and tight end David Njoku.
Chargers key draft picks
Their top pick was pass rusher Akheem Mesidor, who plays behind Khalil Mack. Second-round pick Jake Slaughter now is the starting center. They also added receiver Brenan Thompson, tackle Travis Burke, safety Genesis Smith, defensive tackle Nick Barrett, guard Logan Taylor and guard Alex Harkey.
