The saga is over. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett has a new deal, and his contract dispute is over. Per multiple reports, Brissett and the Cardinals agreed to a reworked contract for 2026, paying him $15.5 million this season with the opportunity to make as much as $21 million.
It has been a long time coming. Brissett is now entrenched as the Cardinals' starting quarterback for the 2026 season. There are no added years, so he will still become an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
Brissett started the final 12 games of the 2025 season, following Kyler Murray's foot injury. While they went 1-11 in those 12 games and lost their final nine, including six by at least three scores, he set career highs with 3,366 passing yards and 23 touchdown passes.

in 2025 to a two-year deal meant to be the backup quarterback, he was due to make $4.88 million in salary in 2026 with $1.5 million guaranteed.
He was told he would be the Cardinals' starting quarterback this offseason, and he requested a new deal that would pay him in line with other starting quarterbacks around the NFL. He did not participate in the voluntary offseason program and did not practice in the team's one mandatory minicamp practice.
They were reportedly far apart on a deal earlier in the offseason. In recent days, it seemed that about $15 million was the total that would get it done.
It did get it done.
Now, he is paid like a low-end starter and he will begin to practice with starters this coming week.
