With cornerback Will Johnson being placed on injured reserve, the Arizona Cardinals made a pair of roster moves with their practice squad. Cornerback Star Thomas was signed to the active roster, which opened a spot on the practice squad.
To fill his spot, they signed defensive tackle Jay Toia.
Toia had a tryout with the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Toia was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2025 and played in five games for them last year. He had three tackles and a quarterback hit in 96 defensive snaps.
He is 6-2 and 340 pounds.
He is needed now for defensive line depth at nose tackle. Roy Lopez did not practice on Wednesday with a groin injury and was limited all last week with the same injury.
