On Sunday against the Detroit Lions, the Arizona Cardinals lost 45-21, their fourth consecutive defeat and the fourth consecutive game in which they allowed more than 30 points. Gone are the good vibes following their Week 1 over the Los Angeles Chargers, especially since that win looks unimpressive now that the Chargers are 0-5.
In new NFL power rankings from USA TODAY's Nate Davis, the Cardinals tumbled four spots and now are in the bottom four of the league at No. 29.
Props to GM Monti Ossenfort for getting a second-round pick back for WR Marvin Harrison Jr. … likely a high Round 2 selection given the way Houston has played.
They are ranked only ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans. The Titans and Chargers are winless.
The Dolphins have one win, like the Cardinals. Between the Cardinals and those other three teams, only the Chargers don't have a first-year head coach.
Things don't get easier for the Cardinals, as they face the No. 8 LA Rams this week and then the No. 4 Denver Broncos next week.
It is so bad that people are talking about benching a quarterback the Cardinals gave a $10 million raise to this offseason, even though Jacoby Brissett hasn't played terribly. What is not surprising is the call to fire defensive coordinator Nick Rallis.
NFC West in Week 6 power rankings
Three of the four teams in the division are in the top 10. The San Francisco 49ers, 5-0 through five games, are No. 1. The defending champion Seattle Seahawks are No. 3. The Rams are No. 8.
The Cardinals are No. 29.
