The Arizona Cardinals players had the day off on Tuesday, but the organization was still on the clock, and they had tryouts. With the news that cornerback Will Johnson might miss the rest of the season with a neck injury, one might expect that they had workouts for cornerbacks.
They didn't.
They had four defensive linemen and two linebackers in for workouts, which raises concerns about the health of the roster at those positions. Roy Lopez played through a groin injury on Sunday, and Andrew Billings had a knee issue that limited him in practice.
We will see if on Wednesday the Cardinals announce any practice squad additions.

- DL Gary Smith
- DL Jay Toia
Ekuale is a 6-3, 300-pound eight-year veteran who has 21 starts in 64 career games. He was a full-season starter for the New
England Patriots in 2024. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025.
Gill is a 6-3, 240-pound edge defender. He has played in 50 career games, last with the Carolina Panthers in 2024. He has played 940 career snaps on special teams.
Goode is a 6-3, 253-pound edge defender who played his last three seasons for the Miami Dolphins. He has played 678 special teams snaps and zero on defense.
Hunt is a 6-2, 315-pound defensive tackle who is a rookie free agent. He was signed originally with the New England Patriots. He played collegiately at Michigan and Cincinnati.
Smith is a 6-1, 319-pound rookie who went undrafted out of UCLA. He spent the offseason and the preseason with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Toia is a 6-2, 340-pound defensive tackle who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys last year in the seventh round. He played five games for them.
These tryouts suggest that perhaps there is something wrong with outside linebacker Eku Leota and that perhaps Lopez or Billings are banged up again.
