The San Francisco 49ers made a big statement in the NFC West on Sunday in Week 5. They took control of the division with a 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks on the road, improving to 5-0. Their win on Sunday gave the Seahawks their second loss of the season.
The Niners are 5-0 with two division wins. The Seahawks are 3-2 with a 1-1 division record.
Eddie Pineiro made a 44-yard field goal with 1:56 left in the game to give the 49ers the lead, and Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp was just inches short of the line to gain on a fourth-down play as the Seahawks tried to get at least into field-goal range to send the game into overtime.
49ers QB Brock Purdy threw two touchdown passes and was intercepted one. Receiver Mike Evans had seven receptions for
113 yards and a score, and running back Christian McCaffrey rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, the 49ers sacked Seahawks QB Sam Darnold five times and intercepted him twice.
There were five lead changes in the game.

The 49ers now have a two-game lead over the Seahawks in the division and hold a head-to-head tiebreaker currently.
For the Seahawks, Darnold passed for 195 yards, a touchdown and two picks. Emmanuel Lewis led the team with 61 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba had five catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, but he had a crucial drop on Seattle's final possession.
The Los Angeles Rams still play Monday night, but at 2-2, they will still trail the Niners even with a win.
With the Niners' win and the 45-21 loss the Arizona Cardinals had to the Detroit Lions, Arizona is now four games behind them, in addition to losing a head-to-head tiebreaker.
