We continue the countdown to the start of the Arizona Cardinals' regular season. Today, Sunday, August 30, is 14 days away from the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener on Sept. 13 on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With 14 days until Week 1, let's look back at the 2014 season for the Cardinals.
A look back at the 2014 season for the Cardinals
The 2014 is one of the Cardinals' greatest what-if seasons. They went 11-5 and made the playoffs, but because quarterback Carson Palmer tore his ACL and then backup quarterback Drew Stanton injured his knee, it was Ryan Lindley who started for the Cardinals in the wild card game against the Carolina Panthers.
They started the season 9-1, Palmer tore his ACL in a 31-14 win over the LA Rams, improving them to 8-1.
The defense was fifth in points
allowed that season.
They lost the final two games of the regular season with Lindley starting, and then they lost 27-16 to the Panthers, producing a record-low 78 yards for the game.
2014 individual honors, leaders
The Cardinals had four Pro Bowlers, none on offense.

- CB Patrick Peterson
- CB Antonio Cromartie
- CB Justin Bethel (special teams)
Campbell was also a second-team All-Pro.
Stanton led the Cardinals with 1,711 passing yards and had seven touchdown passes to five interceptions.
Palmer passed for 1,626 yards, 11 touchdowns and three picks in six games.
Andre Ellington was the Cardinals' leading rusher, gaining 660 yards on the ground. He also had 46 catches for 395 yards, for a total of 1,055 offensive yards and five touchdowns.
The Cardinals did not have a 1,000-yard receiver in 2014. Michael Floyd led the team with 841 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 47 receptions. Larry Fitzgerald had a team-leading 63 catches for 784 yards and two touchdowns. John Brown had 48 receptions for 696 yards and five touchdowns.
Alex Okafor led the Cardinals with eight sacks, followed by Campbell with seven.
Safety Rashad Johnson had a team-leading 92 total tackles. He also had a team-leading four interceptions. Antonio Cromartie and cornerback Jerraud Powers both led the team with 10 pass breakups.
