The Arizona Cardinals have a little uncertainty at right guard for Week 1. Isaiah Adams is the definite starter, but he suffered a knee injury sometime before the Cardinals' preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 22.
It is uncertain whether he will be able to play in the season opener on Sept. 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The only thing we know is that Adams is "doing well," per head coach Mike LaFleur. Adams is progressing, but LaFleur noted that whether Adams could play or not "would go right into Week 1."
The knee was bad enough that Adams didn't even take the trip to Green Bay.
Because there is no official injury report until next Wednesday, we won't know exactly how much he is or is not participating. In the most recent open
portion of practice, he was nowhere to be seen.
While Adams is out, Jon Gaines fills in at right guard. That leaves Hayden Conner and his five career NFL games and 29 total snaps as the only backup guard and center who is healthy. Rookie Chase Bisontis, their second-round pick who was expected to compete for the starting job, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason.
Adams' participation in practice next week will be very important.
