The Arizona Cardinals' next opponents are the Detroit Lions, whom they face at home on Sunday in Week 5. The Lions are 2-2 but have one of the best offenses in the league.
Just how good is it?
Detroit Lions team offensive stats
They have scored 31 points in three of their four games, and they scored 26 last week. Averaging 29.8 points per game, they are fifth in the league overall, and they rank sixth in yards gained.
They average 389.3 yards per game. They are third in passing offense, averaging 287.3 yards per game.
They aren't as good as a team in running the ball, averaging 102.0 rushing yards per game, which is 20th in the league. They average 4.2 yards per attempt.
With 98 first downs, they are second in the league. They aren't great on third down, converting 39.1% of the time,
which is just behind the Cardinals' 39.3%.
But they are good in the red zone, scoring touchdowns on 72.2% of their trips inside the opponent's 20.
Individual offensive stats
Quarterback Jared Goff is second in the NFL with 1,214 passing yards. He has nine touchdowns without an interception.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is tied for fifth in the NFL with 353 rushing yards. His seven total touchdowns, 26 total first downs and 102 total touches lead the NFL.
Receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has 31 catches for 303 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Jameson Williams has 16 catches for 229 yards, and tight end Sam LaPorta has 22 for 228 yards and two scores.
The Cardinals' defense recently
The Cardinals have been bad defensively the last three games. They have allowed over 30 points in three straight games. They have allowed 10 touchdown passes in the last three games, with all three opposing quarterbacks throwing for at least three. Two of those quarterbacks — Drew Lock and Jameis Winston — are backup quarterbacks.
The Lions will be a tremendous challenge for the Cardinals.
