The Arizona Cardinals opened a new four-day block of practices in training camp on Tuesday at State Farm Stadium, and the pads went on. It was their first padded practice of camp. There was one peculiar thing on the field on Tuesday.
While everyone was wearing pads with their practice jerseys, quarterback Gardner Minshew was wearing a regular black game jersey.
Cardinals quarterbacks wear black jerseys in practice, as it designates they are not to be touched, but they use practice jerseys with white numbering.
Minshew wore the alternate black with red numbering.
Why?
According to Cardinals.com's Darren Urban, ''Minshew prefers to wear a game jersey in practice, so he had a slightly different look with his particular black QB jersey." It was a little
different than a normal game jersey, as it had the Desert Financial patch that all Cardinals have on their practice jersey, as part of a partnership with that credit union.
So if you head out to the stadium and you notice Minshew looking different than the other quarterbacks, that is why.
