The NFC West is beginning to separate a bit. The San Francisco 49ers took control and sit atop the division with an undefeated 5-0 record. They were the only team in the division to win in Week 5.
The Arizona Cardinals, of course, remain in the division cellar, and right now there are no ties.
These are the current standings in the NFC West entering Week 6.
- San Francisco 49ers, 5-0 (3-0 division)
- Seattle Seahawks, 3-2 (1-1 division)
- Los Angeles Rams, 2-3 (0-1 division)
- Arizona Cardinals, 1-4 (0-2 division)
San Francisco has a two-game lead and holds a head-to-head tiebreaker. They already have three wins in the division, having beaten all three teams so far, which guarantees they will not lose any head-to-head tiebreaker. They are guaranteed at least a tie head-to-head with all three other teams in the division.
Week 5 NFC West results
- The 49ers beat the Seahawks 32-29 in a thrilling game that went down to the final moment. The Niners kicked a go-ahead field goal with under two minutes to go, and the Seahawks moved down the field, only to come up inches short of a first down on fourth down, trying to get into field-goal range.
- The Cardinals were embarrassed 45-21 at home by the Detroit Lions. They scored first but then allowed 31 unanswered points and went three-and-out five straight possessions after their initial touchdown.
- The Rams lost a thriller on Monday night. They lost 37-34 in overtime to the Buffalo Bills. They recovered a fumble in overtime but had their potential game-winning field goal blocked and then gave up the game-winning field goal to the Bills.
Week 6 games in NFC West

- The Cardinals and Rams play in California on Sunday afternoon. The Rams are 13-point favorites, the biggest favorites of the week.
- The 49ers will play on Monday night at home against the 1-3-1 Washington Commanders. They are 7.5-point home favorites.
