The Arizona Cardinals enter the final week of the preseason. They have played three preseason games and practiced for a month in training camp. We have a pretty good feel for many players and their place on the roster.
But what will the final 53-man roster look on Sunday when final cuts are made?
Here are the latest 53-man roster projections for the Cardinals.
53-man roster projections: Offense
Quarterback
- Jacoby Brissett
- Gardner Minshew
- Carson Beck
This hasn't changed. This is what this room was always going to be.
Running back
- Tyler Allgeier
- Jeremiyah Love
- James Conner
- Bam Knight
Love might not be able to play in Week 1, and Conner's status is uncertain, as he hasn't practiced 11-on-11 yet. But it looks like this room is pretty set.
Wide receiver
- Marvin Harrison Jr.
- Michael Wilson
- Kendrick Bourne
- Devin Duvernay
- Reggie Virgil
- Jalen Brooks
Simi Fehoko deserves a spot, but he has some roster versatility because he is a vested veteran. He won't have to go through waivers if
cut and has more than $1 million in salary guarantees. Signing him to the practice squad will be easy if he doesn't sign elsewhere.
Tight end
- Trey McBride
- Elijah Higgins
- Teagan Quitoriano
Tip Reiman won't be ready in Week 1, so we will project that he starts the season on PUP. That opens the door for Quitoriano, who is big like Reiman and will primarily be a blocker.
Offensive line
- Paris Johnson
- Isaac Seumalo
- Hjalte Froholdt
- Isaiah Adams
- Elijah Wilkinson
- Jon Gaines
- Josh Fryar
- Jayden Williams
- Matt Pryor
Eight of the nine seem like locks. While Pryor had a couple of really bad plays against the Cowboys, he is a guy who has been a full-season starter and can play both tackle and guard. He beats out second-year guard Hayden Conner.
53-man roster projections: Defense
Defensive line
- Walter Nolen
- Roy Lopez
- L.J. Collier
- Darius Robinson
- Andrew Billings
- Dante Stills
Collier appears to have a starting job locked up. If they keep seven, Jonah Williams is probably the guy.
Outside linebacker
- Josh Sweat
- Zaven Collins
- Baron Browning
- Jordan Burch
- Eku Leota
We will trust that Sweat will come off PUP. Collins, Browning and Burch are locks. Leota's camp and preseason get him on the roster over BJ Ojulari. Also something to note about Leota — he has logged 31 special teams snaps over the last two preseason games, making him more valuable at the back end of the roster than Ojulari.
Inside linebacker
- Mack Wilson
- Jack Gibbens
- Cody Simon
- Karsan Sharar
Sharar beats out Owen Pappoe.
Cornerback
- Will Johnson
- Denzel Burke
- Max Melton
- Garrett Williams
- Sean Murphy-Bunting
- Elijah Jones
Williams and Murphy-Bunting will be the slot corners. Jones beats out the other corners for the last spot. Watch Melton on the trade market.
Safety
- Budda Baker
- Andrew Wingard
- Rabbit Taylor-Demerson
- Kitan Crawford
This might change if Rabbit's rib injury is bad enough he needs to go on injured reserve. Watch for Isaiah Oliver if the injury is enough to keep him out for a bit.
Special teams
- K Chad Ryland
- P Blake Gillikin
- LS Casey Kreiter
This group is set.
