The Arizona Cardinals received bad news about rookie running back Jeremiyah Love's ankle. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Love has suffered a high ankle sprain and will miss four to five weeks.
It is his third ankle injury and second high ankle sprain since he was drafted.
Head coach Mike LaFleur said this injury, suffered in the second quarter of the Cardinals' 33-30 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys, was not a reaggravation of previous injuries.
Love had a high ankle sprain in the preseason, but that healed and he was ready for the season opener. In Week 2, he tweaked his other ankle, played another three games on it and then missed two games to get better. He returned on Sunday after his two-game absence, only to have his right foot
twisted laterally outwardly when he was tackled on the last of his nine rushing attempts.
With that timeline, the Cardinals could put him on injured reserve, but they might opt not to, so that he can start practicing on a limited basis before that time frame.
In six games played, Love has rushed for 268 yards and a touchdown, averaging 3.5 yards per attempt.
We will see if the Cardinals decide to put him on injured reserve.
