The Arizona Cardinals had a different look to their first-team offensive line on Monday in Tempe. Practicing for the first time this week leading up to their final preseason game on Friday against the Green Bay Packers, starting left guard Isaac Seumalo and starting right guard Isaiah Adams were not on the field.
Neither played in the Cardinals' preseason contest on Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys, and there was no prior knowledge of any injury, so when head coach Mike LaFleur spoke to reporters before practice on Monday, there was no mention of anything about them.
In their place in the starting offense were Hayden Conner at left guard and Jon Gaines at right guard. Conner is a second-year player who was a sixth-round pick last year. Gaines enters
his fourth season with the Cardinals and has been the team's backup center for the last two years, although he did start five games late last season at left guard while Evan Brown was away with a personal matter.
We will see whether Adams and Seumalo needed a day off or if both are dealing with injuries.
The Cardinals have a joint practice with the Packers this week. Adams and Seumalo would get action then if healthy. They would not play in the game on Friday. We will see what LaFleur says the next time he speaks with reporters.
