There is a lot of attention surrounding Colorado linebacker Gideon ESPN Lampron. Of course, his unique middle name prompts folks to wonder how he was bestowed with a sports network moniker in the first place.
His father, Marty, is a huge sports fan and gave him the standout middle name. With that said, it was Gideon ESPN Lampron himself who has put in the work to get to Colorado and catch the eye of his new head coach, Deion Sanders.
Lampron actually took it upon himself to approach Sanders while boarding a flight last winter, which opened the door for him to play for the Buffaloes.
"I'm so thankful that I approached him and everything worked out," Lampron toldthe Associated Press.
The rising senior linebacker posted 119 total tackles for Bowling
Green last year and has made an impression at Colorado in the months leading up to the regular season.
"Gideon has exceeded expectations," Sanders said. "Gideon is not just a dawg; he's a bona fide leader. He's a playmaker. He's a guy who loves to practice, loves the game, shows affection to his teammates."
Regardless of what's next for ESPN Lampron, he's already learned important lessons from Sanders.
"'Everyone in your life is there for a season or a reason. You've got to decide what they're there for,'" Lampron recalled Sanders telling him. "That really stuck with me."
