Florida State enters what is likely a do-or-die season for head coach Mike Norvell, and the Seminoles will play their cards close to the chest this fall.
FSU opens its 2026 campaign on Saturday against New Mexico State in Week 0. Though they're facing a Conference USA opponent as more than a four-touchdown favorite, Norvell opted not to release a depth chart, per Noles247's Kolby Crawford.
The decision raised eyebrows online, as it seemed to indicate a need for secrecy against an overmatched opponent. However, Norvell said Monday that the team will not be releasing depth charts at all in 2026.

Norvell enters his seventh season
at FSU with a 38-34 record overall, but he's just 7-17 over the last two seasons. He narrowly kept his job last season, likely thanks to a prohibitively large buyout, but another disappointing season would likely be the final straw.
Given those stakes, it seems Norvell would like to keep as much information internal as possible.
