Week 6 of ACC play digs into more conference play. There is tons of radiation from the fallout of Week 5's massive power rankings shakeup, and Week 6 could be another wild week of ACC football. That could be the case with the North Carolina Tar Heels facing the Pitt Panthers.
The Tar Heels (2-2) have started off better than last season. They have beaten the TCU Horned Frogs in the Aer Lingus Classic and Eastern Tennessee so far, and they played closely against Notre Dame, losing 37-26. The only major game of concern was against Clemson. The Tar Heels had the Tigers on the ropes, up 17-6 by halftime, but they blew it to lose 28-20. Still, despite the controversy, they're trying to trudge along.
The Pitt Panthers (5-0) had their biggest win of the season
last week. On the road against Virginia Tech on Friday, Oct. 3, the Panthers pulled through with an awesome 35-33 win. They lost quarterback Mason Heintschel for the season with a torn ACL, and they were outgained 499-295 yards. However, the defense forced four turnovers, and Virginia Tech kicker John Love missed a field goal to earn the win for Pitt.

UNC vs. Pitt prediction, pick:
North Carolina has a tough slate ahead of it. They face unbeaten Pitt this week, currently unbeaten Duke next week, then Syracuse, then currently unbeaten Miami the week afterwards. They have a great shot to beat Pitt in this matchup.
Pitt quarterback Holden Geriner is a fifth-year senior, but he's not as good as Mason Heintschel. UNC's pass rush can get in the backfield against Pitt, while the corners execute a great bend-don't-break game plan. Pitt is also one of the most penalized teams in the league, while the Tar Heels are the least penalized teams in the league.
However, UNC's defense isn't perfect. The Tar Heels aren't a great run defense, and Pitt has a great 1-2 punch of Ja’Kyrian Turner and Damon Ferguson. The Panthers have averaged 4.7 yards per carry. If Turner and Ferguson could rumble against UNC, that will take the pressure off Geriner.
Geriner is accurate, and the running game is facing a great matchup. As a result, I think Pitt wins this one close, like they usually do.
Score Prediction: Pitt 21, UNC 17
Best Bet: Under 47
